What’s A Hobby? Workshop: Ceramics

What’s A Hobby? is a new series of family workshops that use the Lightner Museum collection to explore hobbies and collecting. Founded in 1948 as the Lightner Museum of Hobbies, the museum has its origins in the hobby boom that swept America in the early twentieth century.

Join a Lightner Educator in discovering the hobby of pottery and ceramics. Participants will explore the museum’s porcelain gallery and then create their own clay pinch-pot bowl. We’ll try to clay it cool, but we love ceramics!

What’s a Hobby? are free workshops included with museum admission. Preregistration is required and the maximum number of children is 10. Participants should arrive five minutes before the workshop starts, and meet the educator in the front lobby. This workshop is for children ages 5 -10 years old. Parents must remain with their children for the duration of the workshop.
