Summer Camp at the Lightner

Join the Lightner Museum for five weeks of creativity, discovery, and fun during our summer camp program! Campers will work with a Lightner Educator each week to explore a new theme related to the museum, its historic building, and collections. Every camp day will be different, with unique hands-on activities, games, and exploration of the museum.

Registration opens Wednesday, February 18!

General Information:

  • Camp runs from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
  • Campers can be dropped off as early as 8:30 a.m., with the camp day starting at 9 a.m. 
  • Camp pick-up is between 12:00 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. During this time, campers will be encouraged to eat lunch while they wait for their guardians. 
  • Campers must bring a bagged lunch and snack (the museum cannot provide any food to campers).
  • Bring a refillable water bottle
  • Wear closed-toed shoes and light sweatshirt as some spaces in the museum can be chilly.

Blast from the Past
Ages 6 – 11

Hop in the Lightner Time Machine as we travel through time and space to visit the past, present, and future! Each day, campers will immerse themselves in different eras through hands-on activities, challenges, and exploration of the Museum.

Week 2 | June 22 – June 26, 2026
Pencils and Palettes
Ages 6 – 11

$125 per child | $100 Lightner Museum Household Members

Draw and paint your way through this colorful week of camp. Campers will have the chance to discover and experiment with new materials and techniques as they create portraits, landscapes, and more!

Week 3 | July 6 – July 10, 2026
Lightner’s School of Magic
Ages 6 – 11

$125 per child | $100 Lightner Museum Household Members

Congratulations – you have received your acceptance letter to the Lightner’s School of Magic! Join us in discovering the mythical and magical through hands-on activities, games, and Museum exploration. Campers will join a wizarding professor in exploring potions, astronomy, herbology, and much more.

Week 4 | July 13 – July 17, 2026
Messy Masterpieces
Ages 6 – 11

$125 per child | $100 Lightner Museum Household Members

Time to get messy and creative as we pour, fizzle, and splatter our way through this week of camp. Campers will have a chance to use their imaginations through hands-on activities, games, and museum exploration. Aprons will be provided!

Week 5 | July 27 – July 31, 2026
Around the World in 5 Days
Ages 6 – 11

Grab your passport and plane ticket this week of camp as we travel around the world in five  days. Campers will explore different cultures, art, and histories through hands-on activities and Museum exploration.
