Guided Group Tours

For groups of 10 or more guests

Enjoy a docent-led highlights tour designed to bring the Lightner Museum’s history, architecture, and collection to life. Guided tours last approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour and are available Monday through Friday, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Tours begin once the entire group has arrived. All guided tours must be scheduled at least one month in advance.

  • Self-guided Visits (minimum of 10 people): $10 per guest 
  • Guided Group Tours (minimum of 10 people): $12 per guest
  • Rates are subject to change without notice. Special exhibitions may require an additional fee.

  • Groups must include at least 10 participants; the maximum size is determined on a case-by-case basis.
  • Guided tours require at least one month’s advance notice.
  • Group leaders must submit a completed reservation request form to the Group Tour Department at least one month before the visit. Requests must include two possible arrival dates and times. Reservations are not confirmed until written confirmation is sent by email from the Group Tour Department.
  • Self-guided group visits (without a docent) may be scheduled with at least one week’s advance notice.

  • Guided tour groups should arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled start time.
  • Tours will begin promptly. Volunteer Docents will wait no more than 15 minutes past the scheduled start time, unless notified in advance of a delay.
  • All participants must arrive together, as the museum cannot accommodate staggered arrivals.
  • Self-guided groups should arrive at the time listed in the confirmation email. The group leader should check in at the admissions desk to finalize payment and collect admission stickers, while the rest of the group waits in the lobby.

  • One person must pay for the entire group upon arrival using the credit card on file, a check, or cash. We cannot accept payments from individual group members.
  • Cancellations must be made in writing via email to [email protected] at least 48 hours before your scheduled arrival for a full refund.
  • Cancellations made less than 48 hours in advance will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and may be subject to a $50 cancellation fee.
  • Groups that cancel without notifying the museum will be charged the full tour amount.
  • Final group count is due one week prior to the tour. Refunds cannot be given for fewer attendees than the number provided in the final count.
  • Groups will be charged the full tour fee if they do not show, cancel within 48 hours, or arrive more than 30 minutes late.
  • Groups arriving more than 30 minutes late will forfeit their docent-led tour and instead receive a self-guided experience.

Touring the Lightner Museum involves standing and walking for much of your visit. Limited seating is available in select areas. The building, constructed in 1888, retains much of its original design. The museum spans three levels connected by stairs, and due to the building’s historic architecture, there is only one elevator. Please note that several interior spaces are narrow, uneven, or not accessible for wheelchairs or walkers.

A limited number of wheelchairs are available free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis. To request one, please inquire at the Admissions desk; an ID is required as a deposit. Motorized wheelchairs are permitted, but some gallery spaces may be too narrow to accommodate them.

  • Two single all-gender restrooms are available on the first floor. Men’s and Women’s restrooms with multiple stalls are available on the rear of the second floor.
  • Prior to group arrival, we suggest using the public restrooms located in the courtyard of the Lightner Museum just outside of the museum entrance.
